Vybz Kartel has ditched a show in Georgetown, Guyana after allegedly receiving death threats from people in the island.
Popular Dancehall entertainer, Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer failed to turn up for a show in Guyana amidst alleged death threats made against the artiste.
Kartel was booked to perform at the Jam Zone Summer Break show in Georgetown, Guyana this weekend to close out the ten day event. The show featured other prominent Dancehall acts such as Mr. Vegas and Gully side leader, Mavado. However, as Kartel boarded a Caribbean Airlines event to head to the event, he walked off the plane just minutes before takeoff; allegedly pretending to be ill and persuading flight attendants to allow him to leave the plane immediately.
When asked for a valid reason why he left the plane, Kartel explained to the Jamaica STAR, “Some man a Guyana want to either kill me or kidnap me and I have nothing more to say.” It’s not the first time Kartel has received death threats before a show in Guyana as he removed himself from a show in the Caribbean nation in 2009 due to similar happenings. Kartel is refusing any flights to Guyana as of this time given the threats he’s received.
