Musical Yoot : Pass the Dutchie. This track is taking it back for me, and i know you know what am talking about. I could remember in my early day not being able to sing aloud pass the dutchie being totally innocent not knowing one of the sub meaning of the song was dutchie as in smoking dutch.

A lot of Jamaicans still debate as to what is really going on in this song are they talking about the original jamaican dutchie pot that is used to cook the dumplin and banana or is it the dutch that is used to smoke weed. Well, let me give you my analogy. Based on the context in which the term dutchie is used it is most definitely a smoking reference, as to what is being smoked do your own judgment.

A dutchie pot is a big pot so to have a dutchie pot being passed around (in one direction) to the left don’t seem to make any sense now does it? even more so a reference is made in the song saying “it ago bun” now you tell me… listen to my reasoning seen -if the dutchie pot was to be passed around, not being on the stove anymore how would this pot of food get burnt? think about it.

When you say but its kids that did the song! i look at it from a liberating point of view that screams free the mind of the yoots.
