Let me first say this and if you take offense then exhibit (A) am sorry for your misleading comprehension, but Dancehall is not an orgy, nor is one big f*** fest.
With that being said its only fare for me to give reasonable clarification. First lets star with the definition of dancehall from the point of view of a dancehall offspring, dancehall is pure raw spiritual freedom expressed through the arts- Music and Dance.
A Dance For Grace tells the story of a group of teenagers from Marthasville, Georgia – who decide to enter a national dance contest, hoping to use the prize money to fund a life saving operation for one of their town’s most beloved citizens – a woman named Grace.
Their quest leads them to their Jamaican born dance teacher – a former drug dealer named Ricky Myers – who teaches them a reggae/dancehall routine for the contest. To experience the culture and learn the dance firsthand, the group travels to the birthplace of reggae, Jamaica.
But as the contest draws closer, the competition gets fierce and the stakes get even higher! Personal demons must be conquered.
And then the dance is on- to save Grace!
Set to the pulsating beats of Jamaican dancehall, A Dance for Grace is an exciting, uplifting, fast moving tale of courage, redemption, community and the will to succeed against all odds!!
A peek into the lives of real hardcore Jamaicans in a segment we call street side salon.
What allot a people do not know about the yaad culture, is the simplicity that comes along with the entire package of a being Jamaican. Its nice to have live the posh life and have what others want but then you become distracted. In life everything comes with a cost, a cost thats never paid willingly.
“Simplicity we use to survive many find it difficult because their ignorant to life” the words of sizzla summarize to overall mentality of the Jamaican populous.
To be Jamaican is to be cool calm and collective, productive in all shape and forms of your life. The saying “if you can make it here you can make it anywhere” in my opinion was originated from a tourist after being dumb-struck by the joy and happiness that resonates off the overall attitude of the Jamaican people.
